Mia Glover
Mia is an accomplished social and biological scientist with extensive experience in diverse coastal communities globally. She holds a master's degree in Anthropology from the University of Denver and is currently pursuing her PhD at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Syracuse, focusing on aquatic conservation.
Her academic journey is underpinned by an interest in socio-ecological systems, particularly in understanding the ramifications of policy decisions, land-use transformations, and climatic shifts on both natural ecosystems and human welfare. At the Inland Ocean Coalition, Mia is dedicated to spearheading community-centered initiatives that inspire interest and drive action towards protecting our ocean, emphasizing the unique perspective and role of inland communities.
Zanagee Artis
Zanagee is an advocate for policies to end oil and gas leasing and development on public lands and waters. His work focuses on limiting offshore drilling, protecting the Arctic Ocean, and oil and gas well risk mitigation and cleanup.
He co-authored A Kids Book About Climate Change and is the co-host of the associated podcast, 1 Point 5: A Kids Podcast About Climate Justice. Artis is also a founder of Zero Hour, a global youth-led climate justice organization based in the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University.
Alexcia Best-Gill
Alexcia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, in Marine Biology and her master’s degree in Fisheries Management and Conservation at the University of Miami. Alexcia has a strong interest in fisheries policy, which drew her to Oceana, where she is now Senior Campaign Associate.
She grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and has a strong affinity for the ocean. She is also a certified SCUBA diver and loves to get into the water – any chance she can. In her spare time, she enjoys movies, a good book, and spending time with family.
Maggie Ostdahl
Maggie a lifelong ocean enthusiast whose academic background includes a Bachelors in Science in biology and environmental science and policy from Duke, and an masters degree in marine policy from University of Washington. Her professional positions span outdoor education, on-water instruction, fisheries scientist, teacher, writer, researcher, policy advocate, activist and sustainability manager. She based in Baltimore, Maryland.
